Note on the plans: All small plans can be displayed large in a new window using the context menu (right mouse button)

Fataga South

From Maspalomas you can get directly to Fataga via the winding GC60. It is a pretty little town with a church and a few restaurants. There are several options for hikes. The southern route is marked on the map. Near the dam, a steep wall of the Barranco is popular with climbers.
Hike Fataga

The "Mirador Astronomico" is particularly worth seeing on the way there or back..

La Aldea

A trip to the west coast to La Aldea first takes you via the motorway (GC1) to Mogan, then continues on the GC 2006 to La Aldea de San Nicolás. On the route, a stop at km 49 on the GC 206 is very useful. The colorful rock formations "Los Azulejos" are certainly impressive.

Possible hiking destinations at the destination are "La Punta de Aldea" and the "Play Chica". The start of this hike is in Calle Lomo del Carmen.
Play Chica + Punta de Aldea

At the fork you can decide whether you want to continue to Punta or take a sharp angle straight to Playa Chica.

Hiking trail

Barranco del Vacca

On the GC550 between Agüimes and Temisas there is an inconspicuous descent to the "Barranco de Las Vacas" (also: Red Canyon). We wanted to visit this gorge two years ago, but couldn't find the entrance (insufficient information from Google Maps and TomTom). We'll do that here with a map and coordinates.

Entry only via the guard rail
The closest parking lot can only accommodate 3 cars, while the more distant one can accommodate a few more.

Barranco de Guayadeque, Cueva Bermeja

The "Barranco de Guayadeque" begins north of Agüimes. A gorge that can be driven through by car to the "Montaña de las Tierras". Well worth seeing - see the description in the travel report from two years ago.

This time the "Cueva Bermeja", which is located roughly in the middle of the Barranco, was on the agenda.

The map shows a circular route that can be done on foot from Agüimes. Be careful: at the "Lomo Guaniles", for example, the corresponding signpost was missing - if it has not been put up again, you will have to find your own way.

Presa las Niñas, Cueva de las Niñas

High in the mountains there is a reservoir with a Zona Recreativa. The area has been equipped with numerous rest areas (tables and benches) so that you can swim there when the water level is right.

In winter 24/25, however, there was almost no water in the reservoir, making it difficult to find your way. You automatically orient yourself not only on the paths marked on the map, but also on bodies of water. You walk (initially without knowing it) in the middle of the (dried up) lake and suddenly find yourself in front of the dam wall (Presa) with a small puddle of water in front of it. The path along the shore (Passeo de las Niñas) is probably twice as beautiful when the reservoir is full. The only disadvantage is that the path has been partially reclaimed by bushes.

The plan shows the circular route that you can take when the water level is normal:

This trip showed that the journey is the destination!

Before and/or after, you can visit Puerto de Mogan, a very touristy place, but nice to look at, high prices!

You can get to the mountains via the second "dream road" (the first was mentioned in the report two years ago).

Now to the GC605: tight bends reveal an impressive mountain panorama. There should just be more miradores!

You can then continue the route to Ayacata and also to Tejeda or return to Puerto de Mogan (for a romantic dinner)...

Barranco de Arguineguín (GC 505)

And now comes another (third) "dream road": the GC505. It runs parallel to the GC605 from Arguineguín to the north. If you drive this road to the end, you will come to reservoirs on the other side.

Before the dead end begins, you can turn left and reach the GC605 shortly before the summit on a very narrow track.

A combination of the two dream roads is certainly possible, provided there are no obras (construction works) obstructing the journey. For example, you can drive up the GC505, then up to the summit and back on the GC605.

Barranco de la Mina

A triangular combination route:

This is a triangular hike, starting at the "Cruz de Tejeda" due to parking-possibilities and better bus connections.
First it goes downhill to the "Barranco de la Mina".
This is followed by a romantic climb in a (hopefully) dried-up barranco.
Hike to the "Degollada de Beccera" to the starting point at the "Cruz de Tejeda".

Gáldár

A pretty town in the very north of Gran Canaria:

Gáldár: The main attraction is probably the “Cueva Puntada”: Stone Age cave paintings can only be viewed during the museum’s opening hours. Dragon tree in the patio of the town hall. Because of the Christmas holidays: Many nativity figures in the town hall and (kitschy) Christmas objects in the pedestrian zone.

Piscinas

The trip to Gáldár can be perfectly combined with a visit to the natural swimming pools (located mainly in the north of the island).

In the municipality of Arucas there are such sea swimming pools (piscinas) near the junction of the GC2 and the GC3: "Los Charcones de Bañaderos".

There are other piscinas near Agaete in Puerto de las Nieves.

Santa Lucía

Already on the way to Santa Lucía you pass some beautiful miradores:
An der GC65:
Mirador del Jaromir
Mirador el Guriete
An der GC553:
Mirador de Las Tederas:
An der GC651:
Mirador La Fortalezza:
Mirador La Sorrueda:

Starting from Santa Lucía you can climb to the Cruz del Siglo.

The next plan drawing shows two variants: one from the town center to the Cruz, the other from the “Mirador de Las Tederas” car park
